Clapping

I let Aaron hold Jonathan the other day and he was so excited. He grabbed Jonathan's hands and tried to teach him how to clap. It was really cute. He was happy to hold his little brother. I just happened to be trying to catch a picture of the two of them together and am really glad I caught Aaron trying to teach jonathan to clap.

Sick Update

Aaron's fever broke after we took him to the doctor, and the antibiotic took affect quickly and he slept through the night again. His ears don't seem to be bothering him anymore and he's breathing a lot clearer now, too. He also aparently at the same time sut two more teeth.

As for Jonathan... he got sick. Since Saturday, he has been throwing up just about everytime he eats... a lot. He's also got some sort of respiratory virus and is having a hard time breathing. He sounds like he's snoring even when he's awake. He got a nasty cough with it too. We are keeping the humidifier going and sucking LOTS of snot out of his nose. I know things like this always get worse before they get better, and I'm really hoping this is the worst of it!

Doctor Visits

Well... yesterday I took the boys to the doctor. Jonathan went for a checkup and Aaron went for sickness.

Aaron was running a 102 fever and had been for almost two days. He also had a cough and runny nose and wasn't eating or sleeping for more than about half an hour at a time. (Made for a few long nights!) They tested him for RSV and thankfully, it was negative, but he does have a bronchiolitis infection as well as ear infections in both ears. They gave him an antibiotic for his ears and he has to use a Nebulizer several times a day to try to get rid of the cough and such. Today, he seems to be doing a bit better.

As for Jonathan, things are good. The doctor says he's doing great and she is pleased with how he's growing. When he was born, he was 4lbs 13ozs and 15 1/2 inches long. At the doctor yesterday, he was 5lbs 12 1/2ozs and almost 19 inches long!!! I knew he was growing, but that's just crazy! He must be getting miracle grow in his milk or something. That's a lot of growing for a little boy. It's too fast for me! I want him to stay little. Not forever, but at least for a while.

Jonathan is three weeks old and still sleeps a lot. He will occasionally stay awake for an hour and a half or two hours (usually in the middle of the night) but he is staying awake for longer periods of time during the day too. It has killed Aaron to not be able to hold him all week. He cries a lot when I tell him that he can't hold baby Jonathan. He really loves his little brother.

That's about all that's going on.

Two Weeks Old!

Jonathan is two weeks old already! I can't believe it! He is already growing so much. When he was born, we had to fold preemie diapers in half just to fit him and now they are fitting just fine unfolded. It's amazing. He goes on Wednesday for a check-up, and I am very anxious to see how much he weighs now. He eats like a little piggy. so I am sure he has gained weight in the last two weeks.
At the hospital, Aaron got Jonathan a monkey. Here are two pictures of Jonathan with his monkey. The first is from the hospital. The second was taken yesterday at two weeks old.

Happy Halloween

Here are my boys on Halloween. Aaron went as Darth Vader along with his Cousin Rilian who went as Yoda.
Jonathan was a ghost. Dan got the onesie for him while he was in the hospital. He and Aaron picked it out for Jonathan.

Jonathan David

It's been a while since I posted last and there is a lot to catch up on, but things are busy around here, so just one post for today...

I had my baby... almost 4 weeks early.

Jonathan David Stribling was born on October 23, 2008 @ 7:56am. He weighed 4lbs 13ozs and was 15 1/2 inches long. He is doing well.
He is so tiny. He will be wearing preemie clothes for a while. Some of them are still very big on him too.
We are home now. Jonathan had to come home in a car bed because he is legally too small for a car seat. It's really nifty, and he's very comfortable because he gets to lay down in the car.
We are all trying to get adjusted to having a new little one in the house, but we all love it. Aaron loves being a big brother.
We love our new baby boy!!

Sprinkles

The other day I was working on some cupcakes for a ladies retreat that had colored sugar sprinkles on them. Aaron was very interested. He kept coming over and asking to eat the fondant that I was making the roses out of...which I let him have and then he wanted to help put sprinkles on the cupcakes, so I gave him a cupcake and let him put sprinkles on it for
himself and then eat it. It had pink icing and you would never be able to tell! He was very happy that I let him have a cupcake if you couldn't tell...

Here he is showing me his cupcake creation

Best Friends

Last week Jennifer and I took the two littlest kids to the Discovery Museum for a really fun discovery time about fish. Afterward, we spent a few hours playing in the museum with the kids. It was so nice to see them playing together because usually they fight like an old married couple! Even so, Bella is still Aaron's best friend. He LOVES spending time with her and on Sunday mornings, he can't wait to get to the church to meet up with her. It's so cute. Here are a few pictures of the two of them playing together at the museum... and of course both zonking out as soon as we left...

Wedding Cake/Blue's Clues

Just thought I would go ahead and post a few pictures of the wedding cake that I did this last weekend. The couple ordered a three tier cake and a cake for each of the 25 tables at the reception. LOTS OF WORK! (That's why there are no posts for the last week and a half) I'm so glad my mom was here to help me with Aaron and to help with some of the cake stuff. Also, amidst the chaos of wedding cakes, I did a Blue's Clues cake. I love the way it turned out! It is one of my favorites!

Birthday Gift

For Dan's birthday, my mom got him a bicycle with a toddler seat so that he and Aaron could go riding together. Dan LOVED it. It wore him out too. It's been quite a while since he's gotten any real exercise. He was exhausted! As you can see, Aaron was excited too. As soon as my mom told him that the seat on the back was for him, he wanted to go for a ride. It wasn't easy getting him to wait for Dan to ride. My mom got Aaron a helmet with some elbow and knee pads too so that he would be safe on the bike. He knows that he has to wear them to ride the bike too.

Birthday at Don Ponchito

To celebrate Dan's birthday with the family, we went out to eat at Don Ponchito in Lincoln after church on Sunday (Sept 14). They brought him a sombrero to wear and a very large ice cream which I am happy to say I got to eat some of. Aaron of course stole the sombrero! Thankfully, he didn't see the ice cream. Oh, and the waiter put ice cream on Dan's face with a spoon too. GROSS!!

Baby Talk

Today I got a root canal done on one of my molars... OUCH!!! I was relaxing on the couch and Aaron was playing very quietly. I looked over to where my phone was charging to see Aaron wearing his Daddy's hat backwards and talking on my phone.
He got very irritated when I interrupted his conversation.

Sept. 11th- Dan's 26th Birthday

Yesterday was Dan's birthday. For his birthday, he requested chinese food, so we ordered First Wok and sat at home as a family eating Chinese and watching more Star Wars. After dinner, Aaron and I surprised him with a little coconut cake. I realize it's not a spectacular cake, but I only had a few minutes to decorate it. And he will get another cake on Sunday when we celebrate with the whole family. Aaron helped me to carry out the cake to Dan. He tried blowing out the candles the entire time we were carrying it.
So, Dan let him help blow out the candles.
Then he was a mooch eating much of Dan's cake.
And when Dan wasn't fast enough, he tried to bite off the side of the cake.

Moments I'm glad I didn't miss.

I have missed a few posts over the last two weeks and wanted to include some of the fun moments we have had lately. Aaron has just been doing some cute things that I wanted to share.
He dressed himself as Darth Vader while we were watching Star Wars. After this, we found a really cute Darth Vader costume and are going to dress him as Vader for Halloween. The other day, he walked around the house with just one shoe on and had a great time. He didn't want me to take it off.
He wore himself out!
He put his crocs on himself to walk around the house and was so proud of himself. He came over and asked me to take a picture. Notice... they are on the wrong feet. So cute!
We also have been playing in his bedroom a lot and getting him used to having his own toddler bed even though he won't sleep in it yet. He thinks it's a blast. And another silly face made at Mommy... I love when he makes silly faces. He tries to get me to make them back.
